About the work

We have one part-time PM and a founder who has been pulling more delivery work than is healthy. This role exists to take 70% of that off the founder's plate and to give the engineers a single, calm point of contact for everything that is not code.

The studio runs about 18 engagements a year. You would carry 2–3 at a time, depending on phase. Game projects, enterprise builds, consulting engagements — all of it.

What you'll actually do

  • Run weekly client cadence calls. Take the notes, send the recap, follow up on the open items by Friday.
  • Own the timeline and the burn report for each engagement. Catch slippage in week 2, not week 8.
  • Keep the engagement docs current — the scope memo, the change log, the open-decisions list — so engineers do not have to.
  • Be the first responder when a client emails outside of cadence. Triage, answer the easy ones, hand the hard ones to the right engineer with full context.
  • Run our internal weekly sync. Twenty minutes, fifteen people, no slides.
  • Maintain the studio's ops backbone: invoicing rhythm, contract renewals, deliverable archive.

What you bring

  • Four-plus years running technical projects in a software services context — agency, studio, consultancy, or internal platform team.
  • Comfort reading code-adjacent work. You do not have to write code. You do have to know the difference between a bug, a scope change, and a misunderstanding, and you have to be able to triage to the right engineer.
  • Writing that lands the first time. Clear status notes, clear emails, clear meeting recaps. We do not have an editor; the doc that goes to the client is the doc you wrote.
  • Calendar discipline. You will be the most-meeting'd person at the studio. You should know how to protect the team's deep-work time even while your own calendar is full.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

What we are not looking for

  • Pure Scrum/Agile certification careers. We do not run a sprint cadence; we run engagement cadences. JIRA Sprint Marshal is not the role.
  • Account managers in PM clothing. We do not sell, upsell, or "expand accounts." The PM serves delivery, not revenue.
  • Project managers who want to be one degree removed from the work. You will be in the room when the engineers explain why something is hard.

How we interview

  • Conversation (45 min) with the founder.
  • Working session (75 min). We give you a real situation we have lived through — usually a project where two things slipped at once — and we work through how you would handle it. No prep required. The conversation is the test.
  • Reverse interview (45 min). You meet two engineers, no founder in the room. They tell you what they actually want from a PM. You tell them whether you can do it. We get their read after.
  • References and offer within a week.

Benefits, plainly

  • Compensation as listed above.
  • Hybrid, two days in the Concord office most weeks. Tues / Wed is the default but the PM gets the most say in their own calendar.
  • Four weeks paid vacation, plus the holiday closure.
  • Health and dental after three months.
  • Equipment of your choice.
  • $2,500 annual learning budget.
